FAQ

Surya Shakti is a Smart Kisan Drone invented for spraying pesticides and fertilizer on farms. The spraying drone has a tank, pump, and nozzles (usually either out on a boom or under each motor). It runs on batteries. The operator flies over the farms, usually by a fully-automated system called the Ground Station, and the downward thrust of the propellers pushes the spray down into the crop. Generally, the drone is only 9-12 feet (3-4M) above the crop, so the turbulence from those props helps to ensure the spray coverage is consistent and thorough. From banana trees, sugar canes, tea ,coffee and various fruit orchards to a traditional row of crops. Our Agri-tech startup and Smart Kisan Drone are curated to benefit farmers in a way we take out all obstacles created by traditional mediums.
That truly depends on the objective. The benefit for one farmer can be spraying crops that have been rather challenging so far for various reasons whereas for another farmer it could be to tackle a terrain that is too steep or rough for a tractor or manned. The Surya Shakti smart Kisan Drone can also tackle soil compaction concerns, and fruit-drop from disruption by a tractor, like blueberries.
If the foliage is dense and hard to penetrate, for instance, bananas, sugarcane, or other nut/fruit trees, can be helped with Surya Shakti smart Kisan Drone.
Besides vining crops and ornamental varieties, the lack of local agricultural planes creates the need for backpack-sprayer making which is a time-consuming task. Sometimes getting to the site is dangerous or hard to reach, and that can be addressed easily by the Surya Shakti smart Kisan Drone.
To sum it up, a spraying drone flies automatically. Instead of farmers drudging through a field in PPC under the radiating sun, one can easily program a flight by hitting on a few buttons, letting the Surya Shakti smart Kisan Drone do its work.
Surya Shakti smart Kisan Drone Is not only a boon for agriculture in India but also for spraying pesticides on roofs, de-icing windmills, and beyond.
Surya Shakti smart Kisan Drone is one of the most efficient drones available to Indian farmers. Plus, with onboard GPS, terrain sensing, and automatic sprayer control, you get a reliable and repeatable application. Drifts can be mitigated with larger droplets/nozzles.
How much time you will save will depend on your application rates, but to give you an approximation of the same, we have a calculator.
Yes, it is. Depending on the size of the drones, there are specific approvals you’ll obtain. At first, the process was pretty slow as the regulators had to figure out their process and learn about the technology.
Depending on the zone you are flying as only green ,yellow or red. Most of the agricultural land is in green zone and Surya shakti 16l is a NpNt compliant drone.
We love this question! There are so many, and it is growing by the day. The most popular continues to be agriculture for crop spraying. Be it traditional row crops to trees, nurseries, tea, coffee, vining crops, and beyond. We see more companies wanting to spray moss/roofs with drones.
That depends on your application rate(s). If your yield needs hundreds of gallons per acre, we recommend hiring a manned AG aviator, or a traditional ground rig. If you have a traditional herbicide (2-3gal/acre), you’ll cover 20+ acres within 60 minutes. Low volume chemicals (LVC) and Ultra-low volume (ULV) will achieve even higher coverage.
A note about calculating coverage – realistically, one can accurately build out the application model and ROI. We calculate coverage per average flight time, and hourly figures include several minutes for battery changes and refills; we round it up so your actual numbers will likely be better if used efficiently.
It is easier than one would think. Our advanced commercial-grade autopilot systems are designed specifically for spraying missions. Smart Kisan Drone is also 100% automatic, and easily operable by remote control with GPS assistance and advanced obstacle avoidance system. The stability, reliability, and ease of use make your job easier and maximizes efficiency. There are three ways you can operate your drone:
Mission planning: This is the most common and efficient way to spray an area. One begins by outlining the corners of the field on the Ground Station App (it uses Google Earth and other INTL map interfaces). Post which, add any obstacles on the field by dropping pins around the object. Next, you confirm your desired swath, speed, and altitude, and the software automatically fills in the individual rows! A few clicks and the aircraft launches, flies the course, comes back, and lands.
Remote Control: Surya Shakti smart Kisan Drone can also be flown manually by the RC. It's a common practice for spot spraying or for individuals who wish to manage the mission more manually.
Much faster than one would ever need! Governed at 22mph (10m/s), and useful application speeds are generally closer to 7ms – 12m/s.
The optimal height for our aircraft is between 10 – 13 feet (3-4m) above the crop. Enabling safe clearance of overachiever crops or stringy branches while maximizing the swath and still taking full advantage of the downward thrust.
So far, the research hasn’t shown a big difference between nozzle placements. In case of much turbulence, the spray is pushed down, seemingly regardless of where it starts.
Our current Ground Station App allows you to specify what action you would like to take when the chemical is empty. But the standard setting is that when the aircraft is flying on a programmed mission, it stops and hovers, marking its exact GPS position, and awaits further instructions. The operator could flip a switch, and the drone will fly back home, land, and shut off. One can refill the tank (and batteries, when needed) and then instruct the drone to pick up where it left off – once it gets to that exact spot, it will turn on the pump and continue automatically! You can also program the drone so that instead of hovering at the empty tank spot, it will return home on its own. Either way – the point is, it's easy to resume right where you left off.
